July 5, 2013 Faces of the Sun-Times A little behind on this, but CNN hired one of the Chicago Sun-Times staffers, Brian Powers, to shoot a series of portraits of those let go in the May lay offs. Categories Business & Industry/Photojournalism
July 4, 2013 How Kodak Invented the Digital Camera and Destroyed Itself Okay, maybe the digital camera didn’t destroy Kodak, but it certainly played a huge role in the unravelling of the company over the last decade or so. In this Influencers and Innovation video, Steve Sasson talks about how he turned a charge-coupled device and a tape deck into the first digital camera. Petapixel had a lengthy piece by Kenny Suleimangich... Categories Business & Industry/Photojournalism/Tech Talk

You don’t spend nearly three decades leading National Geographic’s photo staff without touching a lot of... Categories Business & Industry/Craft/Photojournalism

June 4, 2013 Evidence of the Chicago Debacle Curt Chandler has decided to use the debacle at the Chicago Sun-Times as an impetus to launch a new blog, and today he takes a loot at evidence of it all falling apart – comparing a Sun-Times local news story to the coverage in the competing Tribune. Yeah, some readers are going to get hosed … Categories Business & Industry/Journalism/Photojournalism
May 31, 2013 Crossed Arms Photos This is my favorite Tumblr blog of the week now – Jeremy Barr has one called Local People with Their Arms Crossed. A good reminder that good visuals are harder than they appear. (Thanks to Poynter’s Andrew Beaujon for the link) Categories Business & Industry/Photojournalism
