110301 whnpaWho ever would have thought that a radio guy would end up winning one of the top photo competitions? Not me, but it happened – David Gilkey from NPR has been named the White House News Photographers Association’s Photographer of the Year.

(Aside: I have had several long conversations with a past president of the WHNPA about the use of color in contest entries. I am saddened to see that radio is still partially in black and white … we live in a colorful world, people. Shoot it that way.)
