Time.com has posted an audio slideshow of more color photos from the depression, complete with a simple narration that tells some of the back story.

    I came across a book with these images in- the name of it escapes me right now- and they are absolutely stunning. I’m so used to seeing images of this era in black and white that to see them in colour gave this period a real vitality.

    I *really* like the ones of the women assembling military hardware- there’s something deliciously surreal about them.
