Being Ready

We issued cameras to the intro students this week, so they’re off wandering around Athens, pointing their cameras at completely random things and cursing at the buttons. They sort of hate me now, I think.

The one thing I tell every student, every semester, is to make sure you have your camera with you at all times. You just don’t know when that moment will happen, when serendipity will strike you and give you the gift of light and moment.

For New York Times staffer Earl Wilson, it happened as he got off a subway car this week. And if you think it can’t happen to you, just wait until Sunday’s vlog gets posted … trust me, you want to have your camera with you, always.
