“Then What Do We Have?”

A little over a year ago, I was recruited by Mickey Osterreicher, general counsel for the National Press Photographers Association, to work on what became the Writing with Light project. Osterreicher was interviewed by Liam Kreutz about generative AI images and threats to democracy, it’s a very good summation of the issues and challenges.

Do you have a democracy? Can you have a democracy? Can you have free elections if people are going to the polls relying on the information that they have received, the images that they have seen? And yet a good portion of those are lies. Then what do we have?
