Digital Altering of a Photo Leads to Suspension at Sacramento Bee

The National Press Photographers Association is reporting that the Sacramento Bee has suspended photographer Bryan Patrick for digitally compositing two images into one. In a correction published on Wednesday evening, the publication also announced they are investigating the incident further.

In a story on the Poynter Institute’s site, NPPA President Sean Elliot referred to the incident as a “betrayal.” An apt description, no?

Manipulating images is bad, but in this incident the image … the image is of two birds.

Yeah, it’s a wildlife photograph from the Galt Winter Bird Festival.
