Say it isn’t so … but Dirck Halstead, who has run the Digital Journalist online magazine for a dozen years, has informed his readers that the site may go dormant after December’s issue. Long-time sponsor Canon has withdrawn its financial support, but he’s hoping to keep it alive through PayPal donations.
Halstead was on of the pioneers of online, non-broadcast style video journalism. His Platypus workshops have trained thousands of journalists to tell stories in new ways and he’s been a regular speaker at the main photojournalism workshops for years. The loss of the site would be a huge hit to everyone who cares about the industry.
