Photo District News has a 10-photo feature up on travel photography. They talked with Travel + Leisure photo editor Whitney Lawson about a recent shoot by David Nicolas, looking at what images were accepted and rejected and, more importantly, why.

Is this really an excuse to cut a photo? And how does a T&L employee not know what mate is? True, not a fantastic photo, not essential to a piece about haciendas, but what if it were a photo story on Argentina? She would have cut an essential piece.
