More on Bokeh
I mentioned this concept of “bokeh” in class the other day – the term for how a lens renders the out-of-focus areas in an image. (I think I likened it to trying to explain to a high school friend why the silence of CDs was important in 1986 … he kept asking why anyone was paying attention to the time between tracks …)
ANYWAY … The Online Photographer has a nice bit up about bad bokeh.
did you see this comment on the site –
“Hi Mike,
this crop you showed is a pretty strong picture. Well done. Recently, I actually found that massive cropping, I mean like eliminating 90% of the picture, can extract very interesting images out of otherwise rather bland sceneries.
Markus”
yeah. eliminating 90% of an image just might be able to make up for someone being a horrible photographer, like .1% of the time.
not related to the bokeh subject, but worth mentioning – if your images aren’t good enough, you’re not close enough!!!!!
