Jarecke Interviews Burnett
Very late in spotting this, but Kenneth Jarecke interviewed David Burnett a while back about covering the Olympics in Sochi.
One question, asked well, framed everything for me:
I see many photographers working to not miss an image instead of working to make an image that is really special. How do you approach the events?
And that, to me, is the key to Burnett’s photos – they’re not defensive photos, he doesn’t need to make the image everyone else makes, he makes the images he sees and feels.
Another reason he’s my hero.
