The must-read blog, A Photo Editor, put up a post yesterday that is not an April Fool’s Day joke about Getty Images sending out a note regarding sub-penny royalty payments.

Reaction 1 – A joke, right? Must be.

Reaction 2 – How in the world are they licensing images for less than a penny?

Reaction 3 – Taken from the comments, they’re doing an 80/20 split in favor of the company?

Reaction 4 – Well, reaction 3 is bad, but these are not total fees per image, they’re per-impression fees – that’s how they get below a penny.

So, to sum up: I laughed, I worried, I cried, I understood.

Still not happy, though.
