From Doctor to Part-time Photographer

Ten years ago, Dr. Scott Lieberman trained his then-new digital camera on the sky above Texas and documented a horrific scene – the breaking up of Columbia. The image, widely distributed, is iconic now and just as harrowing to look at.

Over at the Poynter Institute, Andrew Beaujon has a follow-up story on the doctor who is now stringing for the Associated Press in his spare time.
