I’ve seen Richard Koci Hernandez speak just once, but he made a massive impression. I have his Multimedia Journal book and recommend it to all my students. And I was thrilled to hear he had made the transition to teaching several years ago.
You could say I’m a fan, I suppose.
Carol Ness has a story up about him at the UC Berkeley News Center and, in it, he starts to talk about the edges of journalism. Well worth a read, though I think some of the Instagram work has crossed over from journalism/documentary photography to a purer form of art. Still, the images fascinate.
He’s also featured in the video below which is a promotional piece for Blurb books.
