Photoshop’s Next Possible Feature: Image Deblurring

At Adobe’s 2011 Sneak Peek conference, they showed a possible future feature for Photoshop – a deblurring algorithm. It’s … well … stunning.

In concept, it analyzes an image that is not sharp due to motion (not focus) (yet) and then corrects for the motion pattern it has sensed. They run through three different images in the demo posted above.

Of course, the doubters jumped in and … they were right. One of the three images they used was faked. DOH.

The other two, though, are supposedly real. If it’s true, and this ships in a future edition of the software, bad photographers will have something else to celebrate …

(Thanks to Michael Johnston at The Online Photographer for the lead.)
