Why We’re In Demand

Writing at Communications Conversations, Arik Hanson explains why the skill sets we’ve spent the last decade working on are now in high demand – in the public relations field.

I know it’s a cliché and all, that journalists leave journalism for PR because they want the better hours and higher pay. But I also know that at least half of my peers that left … came right back. Proving, perhaps, that journalism isn’t a career – it’s a calling. You either have to do it or you don’t, a binary state.

Jokes about going into journalism for the free food aside, no one is here because they have nothing better to do, are they?
