I will never, ever, stop hounding my students about the value of their work. So when I come across a smart synopsis of copyright, licensing and contracts, I’m going to share it with you.
Every. Single. Time.
On Monday afternoon I was sitting in a meeting with my boss and a colleague and the topic of “entrepreneurial journalism” came up. Again. It comes up all the time, but yesterday, we finally defined, if loosely, what an “entrepreneurial journalism” course would be like here.
Ready for this?
At least one half of it would be business, marketing, advertising, audience building and contracts. Less than half would be “journalism.”
I so desperately want that course in our curriculum … to take and to have our students take.
(It’s entirely possible I have an ongoing relationship with the author of the linked post. But I still think it’s a smartly written piece.)
