Flipped Image in NY Times Magazine

Uh oh … seems a photographer has been playing in Photoshop and sending the results off to the New York Times‘ Sunday magazine. I do love this quote, though, from Adam Gurno, the man who found the fakery: When you work in computer programming … there’s a maxim in the programming world that says “all bugs are shallow to 10,000 eyes.”...

Great Graphics

The New York Times‘ Lens blog has a selection of images up by Michael Wolf of Chicago architecture – and the visual formations are stunningly cool (particularly the last frame). There’s even a legal note appended to the piece that talks about privacy issues – something we as journalists deal with a lot.

Iconic Images, Then and Now

CNN.com has a brief story up about the ability of images to become icons, citing famous images such as Eddie Adams’ Viet Cong execution image and John Filo’s Kent State shooting photo. It’s official – Kodak has announced it will no longer produce Kodachrome. After 74 years of production, the last batch is the last batch. The framing of the two interviews is bordering on exquisite and there are some artsy camera movements that work amazingly well to help the viewer get s sense of place...
