Surprise! This Is A Lie – UPDATE
Yesterday, the women of the Democratic women of the 113th Congress gathered on the steps of the Capital for a photo. Except, not everyone was there. So why not just Photoshop the four missing Representatives in later?
Sure, it’s a PR photo. But if you’re going to make it publicly available, it should be disclosed. You can take a look at a larger version of the image and see if you can spot the four folks added in.
UPDATE: Rep. Nancy Pelosi is defending the Photoshop job done, according to the Associated Press.
“It was an accurate historical record of who the Democratic women of Congress are,” Pelosi told a news conference. “It also is an accurate record that it was freezing cold and our members had been waiting a long time for everyone to arrive and … had to get back into the building to greet constituents, family members, to get ready to go to the floor. It wasn’t like they had the rest of the day to stand there.”
I really want to insert a snarky comment here along the lines of, “if by ‘accurate historical record of who the Democratic women of Congress are’ you mean representatives who are late and deserve special treatment” … but I won’t.
Maybe.
