Morning Thought

I’m sitting here, trying not to run back and forth to the mailroom and business office. Waiting, waiting.

The college ordered an iPad for me and, while everyone else in the world has had their grubby hands on one for 48 hours now, I’m still waiting … waiting.

But then I looked over at my Twitter stream and saw something that reminded me not to be so giddy until we (“we” being journalists and people who care about democracy) figure out how to use this thing.

Right now, it’s so easy to shoot a photo or video (of an earthquake or a shooting) and call it news. It may be news, but it is not journalism. Have to keep remembering that.
