Co-oping Gear

David Hobby posed a question on his site, The Strobist, today asking whether photographers were starting up their own co-operatives to share equipment. It’s a great question. If you live in a big city you probably have access to rental houses. And, if you live in a smaller community, you can do online lens rentals where they ship you stuff.

But why not pool some money with a few colleagues for big ticket items that you only need occasionally? Does it make business sense?

So what would you put in that collection? What do you need only occasionally but then need really badly?
