We’re a few weeks away, time for more information … the ICONN Annual Conference will be here at the Grady College of Journalism and Mass Communication on January 13 and 14. This conference, open to ICONN members and non-members, is designed to give both journalism students and journalism educators a forum to talk about online journalism–what is it now, where is it going, what do you need to know and what do educators need to be teaching.
In addition to presentations by students and journalism faculty, several industry experts will be speaking including Joel Sucherman, Director of Project Argo at NPR, Victor Hernandez, Director of Domestic Newsgathering at CNN. and David Tulis, Director of Photography at the Athens Banner-Herald.
Registration for the conference is $15 for students and $25 for professionals and educators. Registration includes a Thursday night banquet (where Sucherman will deliver the keynote address) and lunch on Friday. (Individual sessions will be open to students without registering.)
A block of rooms have been reserved at the Georgia Center, the University of Georgia’s on-campus hotel and convention center. Rooms start at $89. Individuals are responsible for making their own hotel reservations and paying for their own room, tax and incidental charges. The Hotel reservation number is 800-884-1381. Participants should reference hotel block code: 72189. Rooms are blocked until January 7, 2011.
Thursday’s sessions will begin at 12:30 and we’ll wrap up by 3 p.m. on Friday. Start off 2011 with some deep thinking–join us in Athens.
