Hard Drive Failure Rates
Since we tend to buy a lot of hard drives, it’s probably not a bad idea to start looking into reliability rates. Over at Backblaze, an online storage company, they run a lot of drives and have posted their reliability rates online.
Short version – they run mostly Hitachi, Seagate and Western Digital drives and the Hitachis are showing the lowest failure rate. Something to keep in mind when it’s time to buy your next set of rives.

You guys are doing cheap RAIDS, right?
I do manual RAIDs at home, an automated/one box at work.
