Self Promo or Die
If you’re freelancing you know you have to do your own promotional work for a while. Hopefully, someday, your reputation grows your business, but when you’re starting out you need to poke folks from time-to-time to get noticed.
Casey Templeton, a commercial shooter up in Richmond who’s done pretty well already, decided to go well beyond a postcard mailing to launch his 2010 promotional campaign – check out the kit he built and shipped to 300 editors.
If I ever go back to freelancing, I might hire him to generate marketing ideas for me. And if I ever go back to editing, I’m calling him, too.
