Southwestern Photojournalism Conference

Our friend Stanley Leary sent along info on the Southwestern Photojournalism Conference. I’ve heard great things about this event for years.

Mark your calendar for March 5th – 7th, 2010 for the Southwestern Photojournalism Conference.  Plus as an added feature for students, we have added a student workshop starting on the night of March 4th.

All the information for the conference is on the website at www.swpjc.org.

For many years we have been asked to have a workshop portion for the students and we listened.  This year for the first 30 students to register for the conference they can pay an additional $25 for the workshop which will cover transportation and food costs.  The staff will be teaching the students and reviewing their work.

We have a great line up of speakers this year.  Here is a list of those speakers:

  • Dave Black
    Freelance, Colorado Springs, CO
  • Gary & Vivian Chapman
    Freelance, Stockbridge, GA
  • Esther Havens
    Freelance, Austin, TX
  • Garrett Hubbard
    USA TODAY, Washington D.C.
  • Keith Ladzinsky
    Freelance, Colorado Springs, CO

Last year we had Chick-fil-A sponsor one of the meals and they are doing that again this year.  We also have Canon and Nikon coming again this year.

Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary continues to support the conference by allowing use of their facilities and their staff donates their time to help us plan this event each year.   We also have Christians in Photojournalism supporting us through their prayer and promoting this event to their members.

We are looking forward to seeing you this year in Fort Worth, Texas.  Be sure to register and remember the student workshop is for the first 30 to register for the event.
